Last Friday I participated in The Qld Workplace Mental Health Program 2015 a stimulating one day workshop in Brisbane, hosted by the Australian School of Applied Management and concentrating on Mental Health & Well-Being in the Workplace.
The focus of this professional development day was to equip Australian organisations with best practice strategies for identifying and managing mental health issues.
It is sobering to identify that 45% of Australians will experience aspects of mental illness at some period during their lifetime. Within the workplace currently, the five major contributors to potential deterioration in a person’s mental health while on the job are :
- Escalating stress levels,
- Increased bullying,
- Rapid change,
- Interpersonal conflict ( aggression ) with colleagues,
- Technology overload.
