What is an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)? 

An EAP provides professional counselling, coaching and assistance and support in a wide range of areas to all employees of client organisations and, in some cases, to the immediate families of all employees. This may include assistance and support with:

  • Stress – personal and work related
  • Conflict
  • Anger Management
  • Poor supervisory style
  • Personal/professional development issues
  • Inter and intrapersonal communication
  • Trauma/high risk workplace incidents
  • Leadership Coaching and Mentoring
  • Career Development and Professional Issues
  • Family and relationship problems
  • Self-esteem
  • Alcohol and drug related problems
  • Gambling addictions
  • Anxiety, depression and grief
  • Financial problems or difficulties
  • Health concerns

And many other personal, family, relationship and work related issues.

Guidelight EAP staff are all university qualified professionals who are trained and experienced in assisting people quickly and effectively through counselling with the aid of a wide range of proven psychological tools. 

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is an ethical requirement of the counselling profession, therefore, all services provided by the Guidelight EAP team are strictly confidential and cannot be discussed without written permission.

Program Entitlements

The majority of EAP’s allow for up to 6 one hour sessions per year per employee. It is noted that some of our smaller employers legitimately choose a lower annual ceiling of a maximum of 3 one hour consults. This is generally more than enough time to work through and resolve the vast majority of issues presented. Each calendar year is considered a discreet unit and unused sessions may not be held over to later years.

Should any individual feel the need for continued assistance beyond this limit, special arrangements may be made through the HR Manager or staff may continue assistance on a private basis.

The models, tools and techniques we use are effective, well-researched, state-of-the-art approaches to changing negative attitudes and behaviour into effective personal performance and increased personal well-being.

Accessing the EAP Service

Most EAP services are accessed through a referral from a Manager, Founder, or HR Manager. Appointments can be made at convenient times at whichever one of our offices is most suitable. Trauma debriefing is available at other locations, for example, private homes, worksite, etc, if necessary.

Fees and Charges

Our fees and charges are negotiated in accordance with your service specifications/preferences. It is possible to set up an annual capitation plan based on your total number of employees or to choose instead to pay an hourly fee for service based on direct usage patterns.

Negotiating and Implementing an EAP

Our EAP service is completely flexible and each program is negotiated and designed to meet the specific needs of the individual client. Full support with regard to information brochures and presentations to management and staff is available.
